People use Internet Explorer (any version) for a variety of activities such as surfing the internet or downloading programs.

Recently, I stumbled upon this picture, which pretty much summarizes the reasons for using Internet Explorer.

Many of you must have been wondering what the new link in the right navigation bar is for. jTalk is a new monthly initiative by JTJM Innovation Hub to offer tips on the various kinds of technology (eg. Web Development, Software Development etc.) The first issue, on Browser Compatibility, will be released on our 1st Anniversary. As you might have noticed, a countdown timer has been placed at the bottom of every page.

Many emails have been coming in regarding jTalk - I guess it'd be a good time to do a brief introduction of it today. Any comments / feedback? Click the "Post a Comment" button at the top of this post!

I have something to add on browser compatibility.

As an Opera user, I love Opera - it comes packed with the most features; and most importantly, even if I force quit the browser, I can count on it to save my last session.

But, using FaceBook on Opera is seriously getting on my nerves - nothing has changed in FaceBook, yet everything worked 100% until recently, where FaceBook decided to ditch Opera users.

I am now forced to use Mozilla Firefox, which is such a memory hog with two tabs open (as opposed to more than two dozens of tabs open in Opera) I had to force Dashboard to be disabled in order to run both simultaneuosly. Go figure.

I'd use Safari, but it seriously has a lack of features. Firefox 3 is a memory hog, and Opera is frowned upon by web designers, even though Opera natively supports the most modern features 100% - and chooses to block Opera from their websites.

Internet Explorer, well, it is a given why I don't use it, being a Mac user and all. Now, I'll just wish Google releases Chrome on the Mac (or is it already released?).

I love Opera as well - although their icon is not the least eye catching I must say. They have been one of the best browsers around.

Firefox on my mac allows me to "Save Sessions" when quitting as well. Also, Firefox has a wide range of Add-ons, some of which I cannot live without.

Non open-source browsers like Safari and Chrome have their limitations, and I'd only use them when there's a need to. Chrome isn't out yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting their release - I'm sure Google will not disappoint.

    As for Internet Explorer...
